What is TU Whakatipu?

TU Whakatipu is a business growth and workforce development programme aimed at primarily supporting Māori and Pasifika businesses to not only survive the impacts of COVID-19, but to thrive in a post-pandemic environment.  A high priority for this programme are businesses that are focused on accelerating their growth.

What support is available through?

Successful applicants may be eligible to receive business services and support with packages valued between $5,000 - $10,000.  The specific assistance for each successful applicant will be tailored according to their unique needs and situation.  Examples of services and supports provided include,

  • business advisory support, 

  • mentoring and coaching,

  • business growth and development,

  • human resource management and workforce development,

  • financial guidance, and

  • digital enablement and transformation.

We offer this through a mixture of bespoke one to one support, and one to many workshops. 

Who can apply?

Applications are open to businesses that meet one or more of the following criteria,

  • are experiencing growth and/or are ready to grow and scale,

  • have been impacted by COVID-19,

  • are ready and looking to grow jobs and employ new staff in the near future.

What is the application process?

We are currently inviting businesses to submit their interest through the TU Whakatipu Expression of Interest (EOI) form.

How are applications assessed?

Once an expression of interest has been received, it will be reviewed to ensure the applicant meets all stipulated criteria and that enough information has been supplied to make an informed decision.

Is there a limit to the number of businesses that can be supported through TU Whakatipu?

Yes. This cohort is limited to 100 businesses through the current application round.  Generally it is quiet a competitive enviroment so we encourage businesses that are interested to get there applications in as soon as posisble.

If I’m successful, what happens next?

You’ll be assigned a Business Advisor who will meet with you to discuss the specific needs of your enterprise and undertake a comprehensive business health assessment to determine how we can best support your business. Following the health check, the Business Advisor will work with you to create an action and development plan that maps out the supports and services you need for your journey. At this point, the Business Advisor will work closely with you to address areas within your action and development plan.

Do I need to do anything reporting?

Yes, We would appreciate your feedback or participation in an evaluation process.
